Peru is a country with a variety of
weather. Peru’s location allows for
diverse climates, so it is important to
be aware of them before you travel to
Peru. Please find below a description of
the weather in each of the cities that
you might visit.
Arequipa City: All year long is usually
warm and sunny during the day and cold
during the night with temperatures
between 40ºF and 75ºF. It is normally
dry. From December to March sometimes
rains.
Chiclayo: Chiclayo is arid and dry. From April to
November, it is usually sunny during the
day and cold at night with
temperatures between 59ºF and 73º. From
December to March, it is usually sunny
and hot with temperatures between 86ºF
and 66ºF. When the Nino Current is
present, it usually rains.
Colca Valley, Chivay: The Colca Valley
is cold all year round. From April to
November, it is usually sunny during the
day and very cold at night with
temperatures between 25ºF and 68º. From
December to March, it is usually rainy
and cold with temperatures between 40ºF
and 55ºF.
Cusco City: From May to September, it is
sunny and a little cold during the day
and very cold at night with temperatures
between 29ºF and 69ºF. This period of
time is usually semidry. From October to
April, it sometimes rains with
temperatures between 42ºF and 72ºF.
January is usually the month with more
rain with about 17 days of rain. During
this period of time air flights might be
delayed and sometimes cancelled due to
poor weather conditions.
Ica City: All year long is usually arid
with little rain. It is normally sunny
during the day. From November to April,
it is usually warm with temperatures
from 65ºF to 90ºF. From May to September,
it is cold and humid with temperatures
as low as 48ºF and as high as 77ºF.
Inca Trail: From May to September, it is
sunny and a little cold during the day
and very cold during the night with
temperatures between 29ºF and 72ºF. The
second day will be cold and windy at the
Dead Women’s Pass. From October to April,
it sometimes rains with temperatures
between 40ºF and 73ºF. January is
usually the month with more rain with
about 17 days of rain.
Mancora & Punta Sal: From November to April,
it is very hot with
temperatures from 70ºF to 90ºF. From May
to October, it is hot with
temperatures from 65ºF to 80ºF. The
regions of Piura and Tumbes, where
Mancora and Punta Sal are located
respectively, are arid and calid with
almost no rain.
Miraflores, Lima: From November to April,
it is usually warm and humid with
temperatures from 65ºF to 86ºF. From May
to September, it is cold and humid with
temperatures as low as 55ºF. Humidity
makes it feel colder. Sometimes, it can
drizzle between May and September.
Puno, Lake Titicaca: From May to
September, it is sunny and cold during
the day and very cold during the night
with temperatures between 25ºF and 60ºF.
This period of time is usually semidry.
From October to April, it is rainy and
cold with temperatures between 30ºF and
60ºF. Some years, there is heavy rain
for long periods of time. During this
period of time air flights might be
delayed and sometimes cancelled due to
poor weather conditions.
Salkantay Trek: At Soraypampa camp,
temperatures can fall below freezing at
night. The annual maximum temperature
varies from 20° to 27° Celsius (68º to
81º Fahrenheit) and minimum temperatures
range between -5° to 11° Celsius (20º to
52º Fahrenheit). The other camps are
much warmer.
Trujillo: From November to April,
it is usually warm and semidry
temperatures from 64ºF to 77ºF. From May
to October, it is cool and semihumid with
temperatures from 57ºF to 68ºF. Rain is
not common in Trujillo, but it can
eventually drizzle. When the Nino
Current is present, the volumen of rain
is usually high.
