Getting
around Peru can be
an interesting task
because ground ransportation companies
in Peru do not always observe the rules
set by the Peruvian government. In Peru,
you will be able to use air, ground, and
fluvial transportation. When you decide
to travel from one city to another one,
you might take a plane or take a bus. If
you decide to choose the second one, you
should travel with a company that takes
safety seriously.
If you decide to take a
flight, you will have a few air
companies to choose from. Your options
will be Lan Peru, Taca, Peruvian
Airlines, and Star Peru. Lan Peru is the
company offering flights to most of the
cities in Peru while Taca is the company
offering less destinations (Lima /
Cusco). Peruvian Airlines flies from
Lima to Arequipa, Cusco, Iquitos and
Tacna while Star Peru flies from Lima to
Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Chiclayo, Cusco,
Iquitos, Pucallpa, Puerto Maldonado,
Tarapoto and Trujillo.
If you decide to take a bus, you will
find several choices to choose from. In
Peru, ground transportation is not taken
seriously by several bus companies. Cruz
del Sur, Oltursa, Ormeno, and Linea N
are some of the most reliable bus
companies in Peru. You should avoid
companies that make stops on the way to
pick up clients.
If you need to take a cab, it is highly
recommended that you ask your hotel to
contact a taxi company. Taxi drivers are
not registered in Peru so if you take a
cab at a street, you take the risk of
being rob. A taxi ride is not expensive
and there is no need to take unnecessary
risks.
